This past May I spent 16 days rafting 226 miles reporting on the altered ecology of the Colorado River in Grand Canyon for the Arizona Republic/ azcentral.com. I’ve spent nearly a decade hiking, backpacking, packrafting & canyoneering in Grand Canyon National Park, but this was my first time rafting the entire canyon. It linked dozens of seldom seen places I’ve been into one holistic experience. Not just a personal experience of a lifetime but a reporting assignment of a lifetime as I attempted to visually document how Glen Canyon Dam has turned the ecology of the Colorado River upside down. But unnatural as it is, there’s no denying the Colorado River’s power, and its beauty. That's why I created a new documentary “An Unnatural Wonder.”

Give Netflix a break for a half hour and check it out. You will be amazed at what you see and learn.
