Our group of 5 descended the Squeeze over the weekend, @Chasetharp and I hoping for dry conditions. We lucked out! Took the Hidden Splendor approach as we camped along the Muddy River. Saw some Big Horns along the way, they seemed to be leading us along, but eventually left us. Took us a bit longer than expected with all the problem solving, but we finished with daylight to spare! The weather was warm, but windy. And my pack was most heavy (thanks to Rodcle's design of allowing water to enter in the pack super fast, my wetsuit absorbing it all as we did not need them).

Had no idea a barrel was in the canyon..

Water was only knee deep at this point

This was only about waist deep

The crux keeper was dry.. we each got out using different methods.. scott chose to use an ascender. I had an etrier that was used by a couple, and @Chasetharp wanted to try hauling me out so I put on my micro and he used a 2-1 lift once he was out. There was no traverse line set up here, and we did not want to use one or use a guided rappel over any potholes.

This was set up as a rappel. It was setup was odd as well, but definitely more of a downclimb, which @Chasetharp is doing here. Someone could easily just be meat-anchored or try the downclimb with a backup.

    Lovely TR. Thanks for that.

BTW your 5th picture? Is that the crux pot? I LOVE this sport. Not only is the pot dry, the pot has at least 5 or more feet of sand in there than down to the bedrock

Here is Tom with it a few feet lower, but NOT down to the bedrock either.

That is the crux! And wow! Looks much deeper. It's awesome how the canyons change. Never know what you're going to get!
