This was sent to me. It is a nice video from 2 folks who post on the board, of a descent a few days ago, I believe?
    Kudos Anthony and Jared

I wish I could convey the emotions one feels when descending their first X canyon. The closest comparison I can come up with is being a father :rolleyes2:.
Both are among the hardest things I have ever done. You "pull the rope" and you're committed - no matter how scary it is there's nothing you can do except continue on. If you focus on the difficulty then you won't enjoy yourself. Once you realize that all you have to do is not die/not let your kids die, you'll see the challenge as beautiful and really start to enjoy the experience.

What happened to the floppy old tennis shoes? Very nice on going high over the crux.

@Jared Robertson Congrats on your first X, do you see more in the future? Sandthrax is a good test piece, but as far as aesthetics go, there are much better X canyons out there.

Wow Jared, I'm so honored to be your partner in the birth of our canyon son, thrax. I'm sure he will grow up to be a great man like you!

I definitely will do more in the future. I remember when I descended my first technical canyon, it completely blew my mind and I knew canyoneering would be a big part of my life from that point forward.
I feel the same way right now having descended this canyon. I can't stop thinking about it, can't stop dreaming about it (I have literally dreamed about Sandthrax every night since), and can't wait to get back down there. X canyons will be a big part of canyoneering for me from now on.

Looking at @Ram's R canyon and @Bootboy's X canyon progression posts I have a few R and many X canyons I can descend that will hopefully prepare me for the harder ones. Thanks for posting that information.

Is there a story that goes with this warning Brian? I'm interested to hear it if you're willing to share...

Very impressive style at the crux. Far different from the two #5s, aiders and a tube chock I used at Freezefest to climb that.
