A friend was vacationing in the Jackson area this past Summer with his family and met two Snake River guides/rock climbers. Long story short... an invitation was extended for them to come visit our area for some vertical fun.
    They did and we did.
Some eye candy from our recent adventures with them.

Yes, but not really that big of a rappel...110' to the "pedestal". And yes, you can hike out the main entrance...no jugging required.

There's also a 2 drop pull-down here. I've been visiting Stephen's Gap for almost 30 years and never did the pull-down, until the WY boys came. We decided to do it - 43' and 45' rappels. Took us a bit to find the starting entrance. (Chains hanging was a dead give away.) Commenting on the way in we said at the end we're either going to say, "this is why we've never done this" or "why haven't we ever done this". It was the latter.

A fun little romp. So much fun we decided to do it again in FKT mode. First time through took ~40 minutes. Second time through, entrance to entrance, 14 minutes. Loved it!

Rappel #2 (would be very sporty in high water)

A little more local to Utah...

Chatted with Marshall and his dad Kim last weekend at a friends memorial (Merrill Bitter, who passed away last year in a ski accident).

Dad gets in on the action:

Kim and I have climbed a bit together...but his son? Yikes with the base jumping stuff.

Purist that I am, I suggest starting a separate thread for flying through canyons, so this one can return to the mission of "fun pics of people canyoning".

More quasi-canyoneering, same as Kuenns above, from last weekend. It had been raining pretty good the week before so there was a pretty nice flow going. As Kuenn mentioned, its an easy scramble out to the right of frame. definitely helped me get my winter canyon fix without having to freeze.

A Birthday photo tribute to one of the original and perhaps the most under recognized members of our Clan of Canyoneers.

    Mike Bogart.

The list of his first ascents is long and very impressive. Ya' know what? He's still out there very actively exploring new slot canyons. However, as is his way, he will never tell.

Happy First Breath Day to you, my dear OLD friend.

    QUOTE]

It was my privilege to spend a few days with this fellow, half a dozen years ago. Got to pull a few stories out of him and what a delight. Others of you met him at a FreezeFest too. He was so curious about the new anchoring ideas and embraced the ethic with relish. I understand he has come up with a few methods of his own. No surprise there. One of sport's great innovators and a major pioneer. Happy Birthday sir. Hope you do not mind us shining a little light your way. You deserve it.
