Pentax Optio W10 Warranty Results

I handed my Pentax Optio W10 to the camera shop that sold it to me on 6/15/06.The camera had failed and the lens and Lcd screen had condensation inside as well as the camera drained batteries while turned off.I was praying that the warranty would cover any repair costs. Today I got a call from D&D Camera Corral saying that Pentax has sent me a replacement camera.It's in the mail... I have to say that I'm very happy with this Dave

I warantied a Pentax Optio 5.0 six months after I bought it and they sent me a new one. That was awesome except for the two months I waited to get the new one in the mail. The new one they sent me seems kinda faulty and I'm expecting it to malfunction like the first one. Whether they replace the replacement.... that'll be the real test!

It's distressing to hear that the Pentax Optio W10 failed with two of you on this list. Although this camera had many of the options I was looking for in a new camera (I researched quite a few), a number of the reviews I read indicated that early failure wasn't uncommon in this model. My Sony Cybershot U-60 (a waterproof digital point & shoot) recently died after about three years, so I just ordered a Canon A700. It's not waterproof, but I have an Otter Box that has served me well.

I've personally had an Otter Box fail, destroying the camera inside, while I've never had any problem with the two Optios I've had, the 43WR that I dropped into the Dirty Devil somewhere, and the WP I'm using now. Ok, I probably let sand get into the Otter Box seal, and I haven't tried a W10 specifically, but I think it's interesting how anecdotal evidence varies.

Yeah I've noticed that a huge majority of the reviews posted on the internet are from disgruntled customers who want to warn the public or get revenge on the product that failed them. Those of us that use the product and don't have any problems with it seem less inclined to spread the word that it works well for us...

This is the Optio WPi in my case. Its done just great for me! (Still in its first season though) I've had it in about 8 wet canyons so far and a few days snorkeling in the carribean. (takes awesome pictures underwater!)

My camera came in today.No charge for shipping.One month turn around time. I wonder if they will warranty the replacement camera,but for now I have a new camera. I think I'll get a case this time... Dave

I went through three canyons this weekend in Zion and wished I had received the waterseal rubber grommet for my waterproof case. Had the camera wrapped in three ziploc bagies and inside my dry bag. Still had some moisture on the outside. Also had some sand on the outside. But I got some great photos of Pine, Keyhole, Ordervill and Spry (geez that is four canyons). TR and photos to come.
