In the interest of work I'm pursuing with the BLM in the Grand Staircase Escalante N.M. on this issue, I'm curious to find out from others how they pack out their waste from the backcountry.

Personally, I've had good luck storing it in Nalgene bottles on short trips and welding rod tubes for longer trips. Both are light, durable, water and (mostly) air tight.

Restop2 bags are great. Restop2 stored inside a nalgene also works on short trips for when a hard-sided container is required (eg river float trip).

Ditto the Restop2. Easy. I've never stored it in a hardsided container (other than a boating trip).

Good hand warmer immediately after use too. Ha ha.

Thats what I anticipated for responses (though not necessarily the dual use). I use a hard container mainly for the odor containment.

    Ha, for sure.

I would at least double bag the Restop2. Your group will appreciate it. Everyone behind me made a few comments on my last trip, and they were right!
