I placed a new 2-bolt anchor in Spry, for the last-rappel-in-the-canyon, thus the second to last rappel on the route.

This rappel has been done recently off a pinnacle sticking out with big chunks of webbing around it. The webbing has cut deep grooves into the pinnacle. While the grooves cannot be repaired, I placed this anchor to keep the grooves from getting deeper.

The anchor is out at the lip of the rappel to minimize rope grooves, and consists of two glue-in Bolts, the 10mm Fixe Stainless Steel ones with Powers adhesive. The rock is exceptionally soft in this area, so I chose to use glue-ins. They are NOT set in a place that they can be used without webbing - I did not see a placement where this was possible. The webbing is about 4 feet off the watercourse, so it will get hammered by water when the canyon flows.

I did not rappel off the glue-ins, respecting that they might need time to set and come to full strength. If you go through Spry please remove the vast bulk of webbing wrapping the pinnacle, if it is still there.

    No picture, sorry.

    Tom

Sorry, been a while since I was on.

The members of my party ran way late, so ended up doing PC instead. Shame, really.
