    Adding to the Escalante FYIs:

A group of 8 Californians will be in the area. We'll be in the Chimney Rock/Kings Mesa area Sun.-Wed.. After that, Wed.-Sat., we'll be camped at the mouth of Fence canyon & the Escalante river.

On a related note, If anyone has info on conditions in Choprock (or in Escalante canyons in general) between now and then, we'd love to here them.

    Thank ya! Sati

Thanks for the warning. What are you planning in King's Mesa? Love a TR on what you do and find. The King's Mesa canyons got some rain 2 weeks ago and the walls, lichen, moss and all were pretty greasy. Should dry out by the time your there unless new precip hits. I am in Chop earlier in the month and may be able to get a conditions report out by the evening of the 10th, after hiking out from a longer trip. Too late for you folks? Your in California, right? Be traveling there? I'll write conditions in the register, as a minimum.

Prolly Headless Hen, Raven and Big Tony in King's Mesa. Will be sure to send a TR after the trip.

We will be traveling out on the 10th but can most likely check email along the way. A note in the register would work great as well!

    Thanks! Sati

Sounds great! Headless will prolly be low water. Good fun. Sometimes you will have 3 drops set next to each other, at the same time, before you clear the back drop/problem. Bring enough bags, short cords, ascenders, etriers. With Raven, aside from the canyons first move (tricky), the canyon is easy early, then more exposed later, with an escapes in the middle, if one isn't feeling the "spirit." The last easy exit is right by the third picture here. http://www.canyoneeringusa.com/rave/0507esca/index2.htm Tony is special and one can enter below the X section, if one can find the spot to enter. The X, while not a long way, is wide, exposed and sustained. Easier for tall people in this one. Doesn't involve hard moves but sustained nature messes with the head. Enjoy and be careful R
