No. The title is not backwards.

The art of staying alive more often comes from practicing what we know. And occasionally, it is our good fortune to live and then learn - after the fact.

This event took place a few weeks ago to a friend of mine. I'm sharing it with his and the writers permission. A story with happy-ending and valuable lesson. Although it did not take place in a canyon, the applied best-practice knowledge is universal.

Try again. I re-attached it. It should download the pdf and then let you open.

Yikes, close call, I'm glad luck he got lucky and came out of that without harm. Thanks for sharing.

Quick question: What does QAS stand for?

Quick Attach Safety. I believe some canyoneers/climbers use a similar, but different attachment device. PAS - Personal Anchor System.

    Looks like this (QAS):

Wow. Thinking 650 but it was 500 is quite a difference.

For sure. This pit is 586', called Fantastic. So with rigging and backup (which I expect they did), requires about 50 additional feet. The recommended 650' for doing this one is not excessive at all.
