So, it seems like I've heard people talk about the first descent of Ice Cube in Red Rocks. Apparently Chris Brennan was involved, and it was an epic? Does anyone know anything about this? I was hoping I could find an account to see if I could get it included in my book for Vegas Canyons.
Yes... and I didn't see any mention of it there. Am I missing something? Again, this is just something I feel like I've heard a story about... so maybe I'm confusing stories or getting things mixed up.
Even if he doesn't mention that he did in fact do the first descent, the fact that he is/was the first to provide the beta on the canyon is suggestive. Maybe e-mail him and ask? Please post here on Canyon Collective details about your book. I'm all in on it!
Basically I've done all of the exploring necessary, for maybe around 40 canyon routes, mainly in the Black Canyon of the Colorado, Red Rock Canyon, Mount Charleston, The Virgin River Gorge, and the Stateline Hills down towards Primm. I'm in the process of putting the first draft of the book together right now, but it should probably be out sometime in 2014 if everything goes well with getting it printed. I have facebook page for it here: https://www.facebook.com/lvslotcanyons
I was with Chris in Ice Cube, and that's not where the Epic occurred. It occurred in Ice Box the previous December. You can read an account of it here:http://www.dankat.com/mstory/icebox.htm
I'd love to hear about your black canyon descents, we've done a couple of first D's not too far from there.
