Wow - are we already less than 10 weeks from FF-XIII?

Last year I had to work on Thursday the 2nd so we had to rush through the Black Hole to get home at a reasonable time. There's no way I am rushing back this year for one day of work. I figure if I take the 2nd off, then I will get to stay until the 4th. :twothumbs:

Thirteen years? Imagine spending 13 straight New Year's near Hanksville. Kind of embarrassing. Kinda pitiful . Sign me up.

Do NOT believe this lawyer...I mean man! WHEN he comes down, it is often a day trip (Impressive really). IF he is overnight, he and his Mapleton buddies are in a heated tent that must be 80 degrees! Good dutch oven though!

Yes I would like to know how to prepare for this cold event. Like how to stay somewhat warm in the North Wash skinnies considering a puffy coat seems like it wouldn't fit.

People come in as early as the 26th and some folks stay outs several days into January. Come and go as your schedule allows

The real question is how long are you willing to stay? I'm hopping to get there on the 29th and I plan on staying through to the 3rd, as long as someone else is there since none of my friends are willing to go with me, they don't like the cold :cough pansies.

We have some potential plans to be in the area on the 27th as well. Anyone have plans to go into the roost?

I hope to be there midday on the 26th, weather permitting, coming from Zion. I hope to do a 2 hour canyon in the afternoon.

Two FF's started in the roost, # III and VI. FF III ended in the Roost. Day trips to the Roost from Sandtrax have occurred to Alcatraz and Chambers. The drive is about 2 hours and is practical. camping in the Roost is quite a bit colder, often 1,500 feet higher and more exposed to the wind. maybe this amazing weather will continue through the month. I would not bet on it though. YMMV

Everyone coming should bring at least two bundles of wood. NO treated wood please! It is our intent to leave the site cleaner than we find it. In the last several years, recycling of aluminum and glass has been set up. It is nice to straighten up a little as each person goes to bed, so the site doesn't look like a fraternity house in the glare of the morning light.
    Thanks for your consideration

Things it sure would be nice if people bring to Freeze Fest:

    Firewood
A chair for sitting around the fire.
treats to share around the fire, like cookies, adult beverages, etc.
Food to share. If you're gonna make dinner, pull over a few people to make it a socializing occasion.
TRASH CANS and Trash bags. Signs to indicate which are GLASS, ALUMINUM and trash.
TOILET PAPER, as in, a couple rolls. They do not stock the toilets with enough paper for our huge party, so we need to bring our own (as in, by the roll).
Funny hats, costumes, musical instruments, poems to read, other forms of entertainment...
Room on your canyon trip for someone you have not met before who would like to come along. Mixing is fun!
A gear tent so your car can be empty for shuttling people around to canyons.
    A generous heart.

    T :moses:
