finally found a sucker to knock out this canyon with. Short and very sweet and very straightforward right now. (That could change) Anchors were great. However after living out here for 2 years I finally got stuck in deep sand. Came outta nowhere man.!!! Haha
Cracked a beer hiked to high ground and called a tow. Needed 220ft of winch to get us out to the tune of 389.00 so it was an expensive canyon yesterday. Lots of animals in the canyon but I practice leave no trace so I leave animals in canyons because it’s nature’s way.

Do they have a towing service out of Hite? I assume not. Hanksville or Blanding?

$389.00 sounds pretty reasonable for towing out of a remote location. One vehicle in our group had to get towed out of the Maze back in 1994. That was $5000! I don't know how they towed it either since I didn't stick around.

This was Cannonville in GSENM. The 1/2 ton came from Hatch.

Yeah never mind. I was thinking of the Duckett Slot rather than the Durnam.

5k to get towed out, I'll got get someone for half that price.

Would have been cheaper to just be prepared.

We just got back from the maze. Had to weld to vehicles with broken parts and saved an additional stranded car there.

Maybe I should just go there on the weekends for some extra cash. That is such a remote place, why would anyone go unprepared without a way to self rescue

It was a blown motor on a full sized Dodge Ramcharger. I'm not sure how you could self rescue that.
