Hi I am planning on floating the Dirty Devil later this month. I would appreciate any beta from anyone who has done it recently, including/especially road conditions on Poison Springs Road and the roads to Sand Slide. Thanks Tom
I have a friend who is doing it 17-20th, is that before you're going? If so I'll see if he can post details on here.
A customer who just floated the Dirty Devil March 6 to 8, 2020, reported to me this morning: "We entered via Burr Point and hiked back via Poison Spring (road walked 7.5 miles before hiking 4.5 miles through Burr Canyon back to Burr Point). The road to Burr Point was 2WD. We had no problems getting a Honda Accord out there. The part of the Poison Spring road we walked was surprisingly good. Possibly even 2WD with some very shallow water crossings. There was a Honda CR-V parked at the river." My disclaimer: "your mileage may vary." Shameless plug: packrafting gear for is available for rental to the lower 48 from: https://www.packraftrentals.com/ Happy Floating!
Yep, all good feedback from them! They did frequently hit bottom while floating, as is typical with the wide and shallow cross-section of the Dirty Devil watercourse. Hard to stay in the main channel as the silt camouflages it. Looks like gage was 120 to 150 CFS at the time.
