Hi, I am heading to Neon Canyon 4/29, will rent car in vegas, not sure what car I can get. The photo I saw online show the road is sandy. I wonder if I get a normal sedan (full size), is it necessary to deflate tire to overcome deep sand? but it introduce the another problem, many post said high clearance car is necessary, so deflate tire make clearance even lower...

for the whole 9.1 mile, is mile 6 the worse? If it is, is there pulloff I could park the car. I am not sure if the road is wide enough, and I certainly don't want to block the traffic.

    Many thanks for your suggestion!

We occasionally see sedans out at the trailhead, and often plastic parts scattered at the harder spots. There are two hills with ledges to get up, and it is not the kind of thing that airing down would help. You really need the clearance or an ability to deny you are giving the car a good whomping! Nothing drives like a rental!

You might be able to get one of the outfitters in Escalante to shuttle you in and out, but it would not be cheap.

We will be right behind you the 30th and overnight to 1st doing ringtail/neon. We have a Subaru and a jeep. One of us will probably be in the back of the jeep that last few miles.

Good news, I was down the Hole in the Rock Road yesterday to do Peekaboo and Spooky and the road has the least amount of washboard I have seen.

HI Tom, Thank you very much for your reply. I went to toroweap a few years ago with a car with about 6.5 clearance, and can't pass the rock at the last 3 miles. I ended up walk in the last 3 miles.
in Egypt road, the two hills you mentioned, is it near the end? I could walk in for 3 miles (one way) to TH, but longer than that is too much

    Thanks again!

CRNPRES, Thank you very much for your info... Hope to see you there. I will try to see if I can upgrade to a Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V or Nissan Pathfinder...

Near the end, I think. 3 miles sounds about right...
