I’m going to use this thread to keep you updated on new products, wait times, and other news regarding Atwood Products. For now the latest news is that the price of black tubular webbing has been reduced. I have a new supplier that offers these products at better cost, so I’m passing some of the saving on to you. These are both 100% USA made military spec webbing. 1” is now $.39/ft .75” is now $.32/ft These are the pretty much the best prices you can find for black.
Also, I’m still getting caught up on pending orders. I anticipate no more than a couple weeks to be completely caught up. At which point, I will re-list inventory of currently out-of-stock items. My goal is to keep inventory more current in order to reduce wait times and do less made-to-order sewing. Thanks for sticking with us through these growing pains. I look forward to bringing you the best gear available and making new products to the same standards. Taylor
Grand rope is currently out of stock but we are placing an order for a couple miles of it very soon. It will be popping up in other retail locations as well. The latest production run will have an even tighter braid, further improving durability and reducing sediment ingress that effects the handling over time. The Rhapsody is still on the drawing board. We’ve taken a fundamentally different approach to this new rope design which has set back its production, but we have not abandoned the project. No other updates on that at this time. Taylor
Talked to my machinist yesterday. I’m hoping he can schedule a short run of them in the next few weeks. We’ve made a few subtle changes and improvements including color coding to help visualize which end is in the “lock” position. I’ll do a brief instructional post when we get close to listing inventory.
Got a call from the braider today (7/19) Latest batch of Grand rope is loaded on the the machines and ready to go. Im receiving two samples to handle before we green-light a relatively large run of rope (a couple miles of the stuff) Translation, rope will be braided and shipped to me and a few retail locations next week. Also, a slight price increase from $1.25/ft to $1.29/ft due to rising raw materials costs. Still an incredible bargain. Also, a sample of the latest prototype of Rhapsody will be in my hands next week. Stay tuned.
Quick update: We’ve done some subtle re-patterning of a few things to help streamline the production. No major or noticeable changes from things in their current, familiar form. Working on a batch of Waterpockets with the modified pattern. More rope bags too. It’s been slow going this fall but things are happening. Just slowly. Also, I’ve added minimalist rappel rings to the inventory. Limited for now but more on the way. Not ideal for high traffic, trade-route canyons but the cat’s meow for emergencies or remote locales like the Grand Canyon. Small, light, strong, ultra durable, cheap. https://atwoodgear.com/collections/hardgoods/products/stainless-rappel-ring
