    As many of you are aware, it has been an above average year in terms of monsoon rainfall in southern Utah.

    Just a quick highlight to this is the fact that the Fremont river jumped its banks last night, ran right through Hanksville, nearly washing the town away and now the Dirty Devil is flowing over 6000 CFS at poison springs and still rising.

    Anyone have any other observations from this season they’d like to share?

    Dirty Devil is 13,200 as of 15:30 and still rising.

    This flow will briefly quadruple the flow of the Colorado into lake Powell.

    Several weeks ago (I had wish I had gotten the screenshot) the escalante flashed to about 4,000cfs at highway 12. Certainly nothing like the October ‘06 flood that @stefan experienced though.

    Capitol reef has been absolutely hammered this year as well.

    Anyone have any word on what has happened in other areas like the Swell this year?

    (Edited for spelling)

    the dirty devil peaked at around 13,700 cfs late afternoon. although the historical graph is missing some data, it is listed in their table. and aside from the 35,800 cfs reading, last time the annual peak flow was this high was in sept. '81 at 18,300 cfs. according to the table, only 5 annual peak flows are higher than 13,700 dating back to 1948

    @stefan,

    I believe the peak flow of 35,800 was the same event/storm you and Nat witnessed in Escalante in October of ‘06, When the Reservoir rose 6’ in 5 days. Estimated peak combined inflow to Powell from that week was over 100,000. From rain ALONE! Bonkers

    Also, spread the word about the gofundme linked above. Consider throwing a little something in the hat to help those in need

    hey bootboy, that is a lot! yes it was the same event. bands of heavy rain spread across the southern part of state so the flooding was pretty widespread. here are the two days (oct 6-7) of data they have available for the dirty devil.

    for us it rained into the late evening on the 6th and was clear on the 7th. but the dirty devil keeps rising quite a bit and remains very high throughout the day on oct. 7th.

    edit: for the record, in hanksville it rained 0.75" on 10/5 and 3.07" on 10/6 and 0.1" on 10/7
