The Lucky Charms of the Trachyte Drainage, Munchkin is a fun non-technical romp.

    Getting There

Take the Hogs Road (Trachyte Ridge Road) past where you park for the Hogs. Park 4.4 miles from the highway at the site of an old drill hole. Generally HC 2WD will make it - there's a couple rough spots though...

The Canyon - Rating: 2A II   Longest Rap: 0'   # of Raps: 0

Munchkin has some nice tight narrows, but they can all be walked around if you are not into it. Gloves and Pads are recommended.

Head Southwest from the carpark and drop into the drainage in front of you. Follow it down past or through two sections of narrows.

    The Exit

Climb out on the right (LDC) past the second, very-tight narrows section and climb to the rim, then back along the canyon to return to the drill hole. If you get to where the canyon confluences with a larger canyon, you've got too far - walk back until you can easily climb out of the canyon on the left (LUC) and exit there.
